Al Miteh, Northern Jordan Valley. February 10 2026, 11pm

In Al Miteh, Northern Jordan Valley, homes and sheep pens are being burned, property is being damaged, crops are being destroyed and livestock is being stolen and killed. In a direct attack on the livelihoods of families already living in harsh conditions, women are being arrested and children terrorized: a scene that can no longer be justified or ignored. Fear is being sown instead of security, and oppression and force are being imposed.

Events unfolding in Al Miteh are not isolated incidents and temporary excesses, but part of an organized policy aimed at emptying the Northern Jordan Valley of its inhabitants, especially the Bedouin communities, forcibly driving them out so that their land can be taken over by settlers. This represents a flagrant violation of all international conventions and humanitarian agreements meant to prevent the targeting of unarmed civilians and of their sources of income and livelihood. We therefore urgently appeal to all official and unofficial government institutions, international organizations and humanitarian groups to take immediate action to provide protection to unarmed residents, exert pressure to stop the attacks, and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Support Bedouin communities to strengthen their resilience in the region by providing protection and basic goods for residents such as grain and hay – they are entirely dependent on livestock and it has become impossible to graze their flocks due to the complete destruction of pastures. These families are the owners of this land, rooted in history. Their resilience is the first line of defence for this area: by protecting the Bedouin communities, we can help defend Palestinian existence in the Northern Jordan Valley.

Until very recently, 24 families lived in the Al-Miteh area; last week, the last nine of them were forced to leave as a result of repeated settler attacks and constant pressure that made their lives almost impossible. More than 5,000 dunams of land are now empty of their inhabitants, pushed away by violence and harassment.
