The situation is difficult, tense, and dangerous. There is no safety under occupation. Israel's occupation is characterized by arbitrary violence. Though internationals, especially white internationals, are generally safer than Palestinians, internationals in Palestine have been detained, arrested, deported, injured and some internationals have been killed by the occupation. Volunteers with JVS will not be placed in high-risk situations, and most of the work is educational, agricultural, medical, or cultural but volunteers must be aware of the risk of travelling to occupied territory.
