Right to Water conference commits to mobilse against water apartheid and ethnic cleansing
At the launch conference of the Right to Water Campaign on 10th February, Palestinian and international activists discussed plans to take immediate and tangible steps to stop the Israeli ethnic cleansing policies in Area C.
They will mobilise the local and international community to directly challenge water apartheid, particularly in the Jordan Valley and Masafer Yatta.
Water apartheid is used by Israeli occupation forces as a tool for displacement. It is directly connected to the theft of agricultural land, minerals and other resources, and is imposed through settlement expansions and acquisition of territory by force in violation of international law.
Residents of the Jordan Valley and southern Hebron Hills are exposed to the impact of water apartheid on a daily basis and face constant threats from the occupation.
The conference discussed the racist Israeli occupation policies on the water issue and the role of official and civil institutions in supporting farmers’ steadfastness in areas classified as “C”.
The campaign is being launched by a coalition of the Land Defense Coalition LDC, the Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media (7amleh), and a group of 15 Palestinian activists from the Jordan Valley and Masafer Yatta.
