Hamra checkpoint closed to Palestinians
Hamra checkpoint 9.30am 17th October 2015: Closed to Palestinians – only occupation forces permitted to pass. Known as ‘The checkpoint of Death’ 6 Palestinians have been killed here in recent years. Most recently, on 26th June 2015, occupation forces shot and killed Hamada Romanin, aged 24 years. When an emergency ambulance arrived on the scene it was stopped by Israeli soldiers and prevented from passing through the checkpoint to treat Hamada.
This is one of many checkpoints that segregate the Jordan Valley from the rest of the West Bank, and which thousands of Palestinians have to pass through each day to go to work or school, or to sell their produce or market, or access their land, to get to the health centre or hospital, or to see family or friends.
