Al Jiftlik ‘Ein Korozlia House Demolitions 8th January 2014
The Civil Administration arrived on the 08th approximately 6:30, with two tractors to begin demolitions in an area in al Jiftlik known as ‘Ein Korozliya. The site was the home of three brothers, ‘Atiya, Zahi, and Zuhayr Fahmi Qasim Bin Maniya and their families. 35 individuals became homeless after the demolitions and they were concerned about how they would manage the night.
Two bulldozers demolished nine structures in total: three housing tents (one for each of the families) and six sheep shelters: two for each family. Also, the water hoses supplying the hamlet from a nearby well were cut. In addition to two bulldozers and the Civil Administration, both the IDF and border police had been present.
The three families had received the demolition order in 2008. Last week, the lawyer Tawfiq Jabarin had notified the families that the court had ordered their homes demolished, and that they had one week to move. The families had tried to hide some equipment, notably canvas for cover. However, the canvas was found and cut to pieces by the soldiers using knives. Similarly the water hose supplying them from a nearby well was maliciously cut into numerous pieces.
On the 13th of January 2014, the Civil Administration arrived again in ‘Ein Korozlyia and confiscated the tents in which the Bin Maniya family was living after their houses were demolished. Five days before, on the 8th January, two bulldozers demolished nine structures in total three housing tents – one for each of the families – and six sheep shelters: two for each family.
The Bin Maniya family is very scared. They have been told by the Israeli Occupation Forces that if they rebuild their houses, the IOF will come again and confiscate the water tanks and all the other structures that they have.
