Urgent call for support for the Palestinians of the Jordan Valley
Dear friends,
We have stood strong against the multitude of attacks on our communities by Israeli occupation forces for many, many years now. When they demolish houses, we will rebuild them. When they deny us access to water and electricity, we find a way to survive without them. When they harass our children and our communities we stand together. When they confiscate our land, we resist.
But now we need to double our efforts and we need all our friends internationally stand beside us.
We are appealing to everyone around the world who’s visited us in the Jordan Valley, met us when we’ve been in Europe and followed what’s happening in our campaign, to understand the urgency of our situation now and to take a least one action.
Israel has made no secret of its plans to annex the Jordan Valley since illegally occupying the West Bank by military force in 1967. They have slowly taken the most fertile land, expanded the settlements and marginalised Palestinian communities.
But now, the efforts to completely remove us from our historic land have escalated. Trump’s deal, announced in January, gives US approval to Israel’s plans to annex the Jordan Valley.
In September 2019 Netanyahu announced that he would annex the Jordan Valley immediately after the elections of 2 March 2020. Then, on 14th January, Naftali Bennett announced seven new ‘nature reserves’ and the expansion of 12 others. He didn’t disguise the clear intention of using this move to steal Palestinian land and and it over to Israeli settlements. The plan involves confiscation of vast areas of Palestinian land throughout the whole of the Jordan Valley. Then, on the dawn of the announcement of Trump’s plan, the Israeli military moved into the Jordan Valley in force.
Stand with us and take action now.
