Israeli Occupational Force hands over Palestinian land to Roi’i settlement
Following the recent upsurge in settlement expansion across the Jordan Valley, the Israeli Occupational Forces have handed over land to the settlement of Roi’i near the Bedouin communities of Al Hadidiya and Mak-hul. The land, which belongs to Palestinian’s from the town of Tubas, was confiscated in 1997 and declared a closed military zone. Recently it has been the site of intense Israeli military exercises as the occupation flexes it’s muscles to try and intimidate Palestinians.
In the 15-years since the military took control of the land, Palestinian’s have been prevented from planting crops or working the land in any way. As both Oxfam and the European Union have recently condemned Israel for it’s aggressive expansion of settlements in Area C, this is yet further proof that any criticism of the occupation falls on deaf ears as Israel continues in it’s attempts to colonise the whole of the Jordan Valley.
