Shepherds in Jabaris attacked by armed settlers
Saturday 3 January 2026, Jabaris near Hammamat Al Burj —Three shepherds from Jabaris and Hammamat Al Burj were out grazing their flocks when three settlers armed with sticks, knives and guns attacked them and killed two goats, using a knife to slit open the goats bellies.
They threatened and chased the unarmed shepherds and forced them to flee with their flocks. The goats belonged to a local shepherd named Zawahra and each one was worth approx. 1500 shekels.
Many shepherds in the Northern Jordan Valley have been forced to re-locate, minimise the numbers of livestock and pay huge amounts for goat and sheep feed because they cannot graze without being assaulted or harassed.
