On Friday evening, in the Jordan Valley’s village of Zbeidat, a community Ramadan fast break was organised.

This tradition began in the village three years ago in an attempt to revive the heritage and tradition of Palestinian people. In local villages the parents and grandparents would meet near the water well in the evening to break their fast as a community. People would bring food from their homes to share in a collective daily meal. and there would be entertainment and games.

This year more than 100 people joined this meal, with everyone coming to the school yard with dishes they had prepared at their family homes.

The resurrection of this and other folk customs plays a major role in the promotion of love and intimacy between people of the same region, and contributes symbolically to strengthen the relationship amongst the people and build a stronger Palestinian community.
