“Cow fines”
Three new fines were given to cow owners of the Valley.
The owners, Mahioub Fathy Aleian Daraghmeh, Odeï Kadri Aleian Daraghmeh and Sati Aleian Daraghmeh, received each one a 730 NIS fine from the Israeli police because their cows where drinking water from the wadi beside their houses in Ein Il Hilwe.
Aleian Daraghmeh family lives in Ein Il Hilwe, in the Northern Jordan Valley. Maskiyot settlement was established on the land of this village. Since then this Bedouin community suffers from constant aggressions from the Israeli authorities and settlers.
For several months Jordan Valley shepherds have faced a lot of aggressions from the occupational authorities as a clear pressure to leave the Jordan Valley.
This procedure of giving high fines to animals and their owners for minor reasons, as crossing the street at the wrong place, or preventing the animals to drink water is part of the Israeli policy to push the Palestinians, especially the cow owners, to leave the Valley.
Preventing farmers to make their livelihood, the Occupier makes an indirect transfer of Palestinian population out from the Valley.
