Al Jiflek village is terrorized by Israeli Army undertaking military training

On Monday 10 February the Israeli Army entered the village of Al Jiflek in the Jordan Valley, and terrorized residents by undertaking military training.

Al Jiflek is designated Area C under the failed Oslo Accords, which means it is under full Israeli civil and military control.

As such, the Army regularly use Area C villages to undertake military training, terrifying residents, who have to endure tanks and munitions explosions.

Al Jiflek is the biggest village in the Jordan Valley with some 5000 residents. The village is surrounded by two illegal settlements of Aragman and Massu’a and closed off by two checkpoints and a military area. All built on stolen village land.
Due to being designated Area C most of the houses have demolition orders and most have been destroyed several times and rebuilt by the villagers.

The village also only received electricity 10 months ago. Apartheid Israel has been implementing a policy of ethnic cleansing in the Jordan Valley, trying to force out the remaining residents. Meanwhile illegal settlements, many of whom produce agricultural products for export, have been expanding rapidly.

Jordan Valley Solidarity (JVS) Campaign works tirelessly with communities in the Jordan Valley, helping them to remain steadfast in the face of such terrorism. Through the campaign they have successfully built 150 homes.

In 2006 grassroots Palestinian organizations called for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Apartheid Israel, to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law. SFP and JVS support this call and kindly requests our friends and supporters abide by the non-violent BDS call from Palestinians.
