Ka’abne school threatened with demolition
On Wednesday 9th June 2010 the Israeli civil military authority issued a demolition order against the community school in Ka’abne. Once again, a small community in the Jordan Valley have resisted Israel’s threats by continuiing their bulding work on the school.
When the people of Ka’abne received their demolition order they brought together a team of 9 volunteers: local people, Jordan Valley Solidarity volunteers and two supporters from Spain. They spent five days in the village improving the school buildings and surrounding area. They completed the building of four toilets, concreted the floors of two classrooms, and laid paths and a play area between the school buildings.
At the same time they contacted they contacted the Jordan Valley Solidarity lawyer, who will make a legal challange against the demolition on behalf of the school.
