Two water wells were demolished by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) yesterday in Baqa’a, East of Tammun. The wells were used to irrigate a large area of Palestinian agricultural land. Hundreds of families live off this land which is designated as area B and recognised as Palestinian.

This large area of flat fertile land belongs to Tubas and Tammun. Beqa’ot settlement stole the name of historical Palestinian village which no longer appears on official UNOCHA maps. It was established in 1972 and has a population of 152. Israel confiscated much of the land and water resources for the colony.

Today, Baqa’a is isolated by two large Israeli ditches. Movement is restricted by an Israeli controlled gate which is supposed to be opened 3 times a week. Not only is this illegal under international law but is a form structural displacement designed to force Palestinians from their land.

17 demolition orders were served on the communities of Hamsa and al-Hadidiya last Sunday. Both areas have had land and water resources confiscated by Israel.
