Destruction of Khirbet Humsa
In the early morning of 1st April 2014 the occupation forces demolished 13 homes and shelters in the Palestinian community of Khirbet Humsa, in the northern Jordan Valley.
At 9am ten jeeps, each with several Israeli soldiers inside, one Bulldozer and a forklift truck invaded Khirbet Humsa. They destroyed three homes, and animal shelters, buildings where the community makes their cheese, and their latrines. destroying the homes. Three families with ten children were left homeless, sitting out in the open under the sun. After the demolition the army stole some of the contents of the houses and the metal sheeting that they were built from.
Kherbet Humsa is an village located in the northern of the Jordan Valley, fourteen family live there. Under the Oslo accords the entire village was designated as Area C (under full Israeli control ). It is surrounded by four illegal colonies and four army bases.
At 10:30am another family became homeless. The same jeeps invaded Ein Korziliya village which is located in the middle of the Jordan valley and destroyed another house and animal shelter .
Humsa community, like many others in the Jordan Valley, has been subjected to consistent harassment and violence from the occupation forces in recent years, being forcibly removed by regular demolition of their homes and evacuations so the occupation forces can carry out their war training on the village’s land.
Jordan Valley Solidarity has been monitoring the attempted ethnic cleansing of this community. Over the last year we have recorded:
21st August 2013: Five structures demolished
19th December 2012: Six families forced to evacuated their homes for military training
6th – 13th November 2012: Families throughout area forced off their land and subjected to house demolitions to make way for joint Israeli/USA military training
26th March 2012: Two animal shelters demolished
12th January 2012: Five animal shelters demolished
