On 28th June 2013 Jordan Valley Solidarity activists held a ‘Right to life’ day in the Jordan Valley communities of Bardala, Ein el Beida and Al Hadidiya.

The day was a celebration for everyone in the community, with a special focus on women and children.

Donations of toys, groceries and clothes were brought by Palestinian supporters from the 1948 lands and Golan Heights, who organised games and entertainment for the local children.

There were also a series of workshops and meetings, which discussed how Jordan Valley Solidarity can work in co-operation with local communities.

More specifically , there was discussion about the conditions for women in the valley, and what can be done to enable women to participate more fully in popular non-violent action and resistance.

At the centre of the discussions was the Occupation’s attempts to forcibly remove Palestinian communities from the Jordan Valley. On a daily basis this impacts on everyone, as they are denied access to water, electricity and education, are refused permission to build, have their homes destroyed and their land confiscated.

Residents of the local communities welcomed the campaign day with its focus on women and children, and JVS was really pleased that both local and international press were present to highlight the issued being discussed.
