May 2nd:
Israeli settlers, protected by the IDF, attacked Palestinian farms in Khirbet Al-Deir, destroying crops and irrigation infrastructure. The settlers also visited the area to swim in the natural water spring which is essential for Palestinian agriculture, but is regularly seized by settlers to intimidate the farmers and destroy their livelihood.

May 3rd:
A group of Israeli settlers stormed Khirbet Tal Al-Hama to build a road and claim the land by placing an Israeli flag on the hilltop. This follows the policy of creating a fait accompli of Israeli control of Palestinian land. The area had before been declared “archeological land” by Israel in order to prevent Palestinians from entering their land.

May 5th:
The Israeli army distributed orders to four families in Al-Ma’arajat in the southern Jordan Valley to stop construction works on their homes and sheep shelters in preparation for the demolition of these structures.

May 6th:
Israeli settlers began to build a new colony near the village of Ras Al-Auja, only 700 metres away from Palestinian homes and the Auja spring, a vital water source for Palestinians in the region.
One month ago, the Israeli Minister of Finance confiscated the lands and the spring of Al-Auja. The building of the colonial outpost indicates joint work between the settlers on the ground and the Israeli government.

May 8th:
The Israeli occupation army stormed Al-Jiftlik and Furush Beit Dajan with 10 military jeeps and two bulldozers, expelled five families from their houses and demolished their homes.

May 9th:
A group of Israeli settlers tried to occupy and steal the homes of Palestinians in Khirbet Wadi Snisel Bir Al-Maskob, near Khan Al-Ahmar. After the settlers refused to leave, the residents called the army for intervention. The IDF then expelled both Palestinians and Israeli settlers and declared the area a military zone for one month. As a result, the Palestinian homeowners are being prohibited from returning to their houses.

May 12th:
Israeli occupation forces demolished the home of a family in the southern Jordan Valley.

May 13th:
Settlers painted an Israeli flag on a building belonging to a Palestinian family in the village of Al-Jiftlik.

May 20th:
IDF and other Israeli organisations entered Khirbet Yarza and photographed the homes of Palestinian residents. While taking pictures is not illegal in itself, it constitutes a form of intimindation. Moreover, it is highly likely that the army and other colonial institutions will use these photographs for future demolitions, confiscations, arrests and/or land grabs which threaten the very livelihood of the residents.

May 23rd:
A group of Israeli settlers destroyed the water pipelines supplying a number of Palestinian homes in Ras Al-Auja. This sabotage happened in light of the establishment of a new colonial outpost next to the water spring and canal earlier this month.

May 28th:
A house under construction was demolished by the IDF in Al-Mandarafat area, west of Jericho. The army stormed and raided the region, and finally demolished the house belonging to Tariq Jamil Nujoom under the pretext that he had no license for construction.

Update on the creation of a new colony:
In addition to the destruction of Palestinian water pipelines in Ras Al-Auja by settlers on May 23, the IDF closed an artesian water well with concrete. Moreover, an excavator belonging to Nasser Abu Sharif was confiscated. It is important to note that this is the second excavator taken from him by Israeli forces. Nasser paid 5,000 Shekel to the IDF to return the excavator seized 4 months ago, but it has not been delivered to this day.

Checkpoints:
The checkpoints imposed on the Palestinian population by the Israeli colonial project to control access to the Jordan Valley have been closed at various and arbitrary times since the start of the genocidal war in Gaza. Entering or leaving the Jordan Valley is consequently made difficult at all times, and on certain days impossible.
