In the last few years the Jordan Valley Solidarity project has rebuilt or renovated over a hundred houses in the valley. Palestinians living in area C are prevented from building permanent structures by the Israeli Civil Military administration. These regulations are enforced by house demolitions. The last wave of demolitions of stone houses was in Summer 2008 when scores of homes were destroyed, Last year dozens of bedouin tents were destroyed by the Isreali army in Ras al Ahmar and Al Hadidya.

One of the places which has suffered demolitions is Al Jiftlik, 32 houses were destroyed in 2005-2008. Jordan Valley Solidarity has rebuilt dozens of houses, in defiance of building restrictions. The rebuilding is an act of defiance designed to halt the ethnic cleansing and disempowerment of Palestinians in the Jordan Valley.
