JVS condemns Netanyahu’s visit to the Jordan Valley
On the 8th March 2011, Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu visited the Jordan Valley.
Jordan Valley Solidarity deeply condemns the visit of the Israeli occupation Prime Minister in the Jordan Valley
JVS emphasizes the strategic dimension of the Palestinian position, as announced by Dr. Salam Fayyad, that there is no Palestinian state without including the Jordan Valley.
In response to the visit of the Prime Minister of the occupation, Palestinian Fathi Khdirat said the Jordan Valley is a most important part of the Palestinian territories and there can be no solution or agreement of any kind, without including the Jordan Valley. This area is seen as the gateway to the rest of the world for the Palestinians as well as the food basket and supplier of all the water resources.
As there is no solution without Jerusalem there is equally no solution without the Jordan Valley.
Khdirat said that Palestinian people show their resistance by refusing to leave the Jordan Valley, despite all the violations and illegal practices pertaining to the occupation. The Palestinian people, who hold their land in spite of all serious violations, struggle against the occupation authorities and settlers on a daily basis.
Khdirat called for more pressure and advocacy to demonstrate the serious violations committed against the Jordan Valley from daily direct attacks against the population as well as an insult to human dignity i.e the confiscation of land, collective punishment of the population without justification. The record of Israeli violations in the Jordan Valley amounts to a crime punishable by international humanitarian law.
